Benediction – 2021
Legendary 20th Century war poet Siegfried Sassoon’s life-long quest for personal salvation through his experiences with family, war, his writing, and destructive relationships goes unresolved, never realizing it can only come from within. Siegfried Sassoon, a decorated WWI combat veteran who was sent to a psychiatric facility for his anti-war stance during WWI, had affairs with several men during the 1920s, married, had a son, and after his conversion to Catholicism continued to be plagued by his memories.
